Curation, AI and the digital music industry today: Hybrid Music Lab 2017

On May 8th, AC joined Felix Haaksman of HearDis! and Youtube’s Stefan Baumschläger for The Right Next Song: The art of playlist curation, a panel hosted by Andrew Dubber, digital music theorist and MusicTechFest director. The discussion, which took pace as part of the Hybrid Music Lab’s two-day event for the 2017 edition of the re:publica festival in Berlin, explored the changing relationship between technology and music and its manifestation in the curated playlist. The playlist format has dramatically impacted music listening and consumption habits in the past year alone, emerging as an essential element of rising streaming platforms and opening up many fascinating questions about the role of artificial intelligence in the future of art, culture and entertainment.
