On 21st April, Womenize! gave us insight into the victories and challenges of women in the Berlin tech scene. Founded in early 2015 by Ruth Lemmen and Michael Liebe, the 2016 edition saw inspiring women (and men) take to the stage at Microsoft HQ to share their perspectives on a variety of key issues from career paths to diversity in enterprises, host lively discussions and lead interactive workshops on essential skills such as time-management and content marketing.
As part of an outstanding lineup that included talks from leading women CEOs including Anna Rose of Video Path and Johanna Schober of Sproing, our very own AC gave a presentation on the obstacles to gender diversity in the tech, media and commercial sectors. AC’s analysis of eye-opening statistics formed the basis of her top to do’s for the coming year: expanding education about gender equality; wider promotion of diversity; and learning to define oneself as a human, not a woman!
While some trends suggest that change is on the horizon when it comes to the presence of women in the tech scene, a closer look at statistics reveals that these changes barely scratch the surface of what needs to be done. Future female leaders have a big challenge on their hands, which is why conferences like Womenize! are so vital. By creating a space where entrepreneurial women can connect with each other, Womenize! fosters the cultivation of a powerful support network that all women in tech can benefit from. We’re certainly looking forward to next year’s edition!
