We’re thrilled to share the news that talented film music composer Matija Strniša has been nominated for the 2016 German Film Music Prize in the Nachwuchs section!
The nomination isn’t the only one Matija has received this year – he and his collaborator Felix Rösch received the prize for the best children’s audiobook for their work on the The Neverending Story radioplay. The score Matija composed for feature film Meteorstrasse opened the Perspective on German Cinema section at the 2016 Berlinale, and was also nominated as a contender for the Best Debut prize. His composition for the Film Die Kraft die bleibt was nominated for the Best Feature Film Music at the 2016 Music + Sound awards.
Beginning his music career in at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Matija received degrees in electronic composition at the University of Arts Folkwang in Essen, before going on to study composition at the Konrad Wolf University of Film in Babelsberg. His compositions have been performed for recordings by Babelsberg’s German Film Orchestra on several occasions, and he’s continually taking on fascinating projects, about which you can find out more on his website. We’re excited to see what you get up to next, Matija!
