„The Film Industry on the Move? How New Film Projects Benefit from Digital Change and Crowdfunding.“
Nowadays crowdfunding is one of the film industry’s most intensely debated topics. More and more independent filmmakers are able to fund their creative film projects with huge (financial) support out of their communities.
Seven movies were fully or partially funded via the international crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. Some of them even got nominated – i.e. the documentary “Incident in New Baghdad” – or even won a trophy at the famous Academy Awards – i.e. the sort movie “Inocent”.
Last month (May 12th) Kickstarter finally launched in Germany to be able to offer the same opportunities to German filmmakers and producers.
With regards to the development in the US film market and the popularity of social platforms, Startup Germany together with Kickstarter invited high level representatives out of the areas of production, funding and marketing to discuss what potentially could shape the future German film market.
