Interactive, Immersive, Live: The Future of the Music Experience at MW:M

Started in 2010, MOST WANTEDMUSIC (MW:M) has become the most important music business event in Berlin and the second largest conference for music and creative industry professionals in Germany with the goal to enable practical know-how transfer, enhance networking and exchange and inspire new perspectives and business models.

AC Coppens took part of the music conference as a speaker along with Michael Liebe and Adina Popescu during the panel Interactive, Immersive, Live: The Future of the Music Experience.

This module proposed a closer look at music videos as a storytelling medium with a rich history and longstanding role in pop culture. The explosive potential of immersive and interactive formats — from live concerts in VR to AR videos — suggests that digital music experience is on its way to new heights as a contemporary art form. This panel will explore the all-new ways to hear, experience and conceptualise music across virtual and real dimensions.

How is VR/AR changing conventional music video production? What does the future hold for music as a vehicle for spatial, visual and haptic storytelling? What might the guidelines for creating these experiences look like? Where will we watch them, and why?
